Services Held for H. F. Green

Henry Frederick Green, son of Charles and Julia Green was born June 12, 1865 in Mills county on a farm near Mineola. A member of one of the pioneer families that settled this community.

He was married to Caroline Hoppe of Lincoln, Nebr., March 2, 1893, spending the first years of their married life on a farm near Lincoln. Then returning to Iowa they settled on a farm in Lewis township where he lived until 1936 when he retired and made his home at 105 South 1st Street, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mr. Green enjoyed perfect health until early October when he was taken ill and passed away at his home at 9:20 Saturday evening, November 3, 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Green celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 2, 1943.

He is survived by his widow and ten children, nine sons and one daughter, all living, and 15 grandchildren. The children are: Carl of Glenwood, Mrs. Reese Laughman of Topeka, Kansas, Gustave, Henry, Victor and Herbert, all of Council Bluffs and Chester of Los Angeles. Capt. Irvin Green, who is now stationed in Nurenberg, Germany, 1st Lt. Grover E. Green, now home on leave, Master Sgt. Howard R. Green now enroute home from Europe. One grandson, Henry Darrell Green in the navy, now on duty in the South Pacific.

Two sisters, Martha Spetman and Ella Plummer and one brother, Christopher, all of Council Bluffs.

Funeral services were held from the La??er Funeral Home November 7, 1945 at 2 p.m. The pallbearers were all sons of the deceased, Carl, Gustave, Henry, Victor, Herbert and Chester. Burial was in the Plumer Settlement cemetery, Rev. G. W. Lobeek officiating.
