Theresa Mary (Brandt) Green (1888-1963)

MRS. WILLIAM D. GREEN

Theresa Mary Brandt was born Aug. 23, 1888, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brandt.

All of her younger years were spent in St. Mary's township, Mills county. Theresa attended grade school near her parental home in St. Mary's township and high school at Abraham Lincoln in Council Bluffs. She then attended Hyland Park Teachers college in Des Moines and taught school several years before her marriage.

She was married to William D. Green, Jan. 1, 1913. Four children were born to this union. One daughter, Kathryn, preceded her in death in 1921.

All of her years were spent on farms in Mills county except for three years in Council Bluffs in 1917-19. Three years were spent on a farm three miles south of Glenwood, 11 years in St. Mary's township and 10 years two miles south of Pacific Junction.

Mr. and Mrs. Green then retired and moved to Denver, Colo., in 1949 where she spent the final years of her life. Mr. and Mrs. Green celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on New Year's day of this year.

She died July 10, 1963, at Pueblo, Colo., after a prolonged illness. Survivors include: her husband, William D. Green; one daughter, Mrs. William C. (Helen) Hill of Council Bluffs; two sons, Richard of St. Mary's township and Walter of Pacific Junction; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Claus Brandt and Bernard Brandt of Council Bluffs; three sisters, Mrs. William Blood and Mrs. Will Klindt, both of Big Springs, Neb., and Mrs. Robert H. Poore of Council Bluffs.

Private services were held July 13 at 10 a.m. from the Raynor-Hamilton Funeral chapel with the Rev. F. G. Barnes officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Phillip Lenz, organist.

Casket bearers were David Hill, Daniel Hill, Dennis R. Green and Tom Green. Interment was at the Plumer Settlement cemetery rural Council Bluffs.
