Frances Hansen, 88, Glenwood

Frances I. Bruce Hansen, 88, of Glenwood, formerly of Council Bluffs, died Oct. 19, 2005, in Glenwood. She was born on Oct. 7, 1917, in Glenwood, to John and Nellie (Russell) Bruce. She graduated from Glenwood High School. Following graduation, she attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluffs. Frances was a former nurse at ISD, and long-time school nurse at Lewis Central from 1954-1982. She also formed future nurses there. Frances was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs and attended Rocky Ledge Baptist Church in Protem, Mo. while living in Arkansas. She was a longtime volunteer camp nurse at Lutheran Bible Camp at Lake Okoboji. After retiring in 1982, Frances made her home in Lazy Acres, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond in 1995; granddaughter Frances Hansen and brother John Bruce. She is survived by her sons, Bruce and wife Audrey of Creston, and Steven and wife Debbie of Valentine, Neb.; sisters, Norma Green of Glenwood, and Kathryn Reeves of Tabor; brother, Donald Bruce and wife Diane of Glenwood; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
