Debra Petry, 58, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Nancy Ross-Hullinger officiating. Burial will be in the Plumer Cemetery north of Glenwood. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the funeral beginning at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Debra and her family.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Debra Marie Petry, lovingly known as Debra, who left us on March 22, 2024. Born on April 21, 1965, in Council Bluffs, IA, USA, Debra was a beacon of light to all who knew her. We remember her not just for her achievements as a dedicated Claims Adjustment Specialist in the Health Insurance industry, but also for her compassionate and supportive nature, which touched the lives of countless individuals.
Debra was a spirited soul whose life was a testimony of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Her compassionate nature and unwavering support were the pillars that held her family together. She was the embodiment of the quote, "The love of a family is life's greatest blessing." She was the cornerstone of her family, always there with open arms and a warm heart. Debra was a woman of great strength and resilience, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to strive for greatness. Her love for her family was palpable and her absence leaves an unfillable void.
Debra is survived by her sons, Justin Petry and his wife Jenny, Josh Petry, Augutha Wright; her daughter, Alyssa Wright; father, Delbert Grosse; sisters, Kristine Hernandez and Stephanie Knoble and her husband Mike; brother, Alonzo Grosse and his wife Erika; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of many special friends. She was the adored granny to Josh Jr, Austyn, Kaleb, Amelia, Augutha Jr., Ana, and Ava. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, and her spirit will continue to live on through them.
Debra is preceded by her mother, Nancy Grosse; niece Amanda Hernandez; nephew Elijah Knoble; brother-in-law Joe Hernandez.
