Walter D. “Bus” Thieschafer, 79, of Council Bluffs died Sept. 14 in an Omaha hospital following a sudden illness.

Mr. Thieschafer was born in Mills County and was a lifelong area resident. He was self-employed, and retired from farming 17 years ago.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Farm Bureau, a former St. Mary's Township trustee and a former church council member.

He and his wife, Mildred, had been married 53 years.

Survivors besides his wife include one son, Paul W. of Council Bluffs; a daughter, Ruth M. of Council Bluffs; a sister, Leona Woksa, of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Cutler Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Simons, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m.

Memorials may be offered to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Walter Thieschafer, 79, of Council Bluffs died Thursday, Sept. 14, 1995 in an Omaha hospital following a sudden illness. Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Burial was in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery with Rev.
